Maharashtra Public Relief Society: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has initiated the establishment of the ‘Maharashtra Public Relief Society’ to provide additional financial support to economically weaker patients and people affected by drought, natural disasters and other emergencies. The new organisation aims to strengthen the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund by mobilising additional resources through contributions from companies, institutions, donors and other members of society.
The initiative is expected to provide greater financial assistance to patients who require expensive medical treatment, surgeries and long-term healthcare. It will also help extend support to citizens affected by drought and natural calamities across Maharashtra.
Financial Support for Cancer, Heart and Kidney Patients
Maharashtra Public Relief Society, additional funds will be raised to support patients suffering from serious illnesses, including heart disease, cancer, kidney disorders and neurological conditions. Financial assistance can be provided for major surgeries, costly medical procedures, long-term treatments, medicines and essential medical equipment. The initiative will also create opportunities to provide special financial assistance to patients suffering from rare diseases who require expensive treatment.
The decision follows directions given by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during a review meeting of the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund office. He had asked officials to explore ways of raising additional funds through corporate social responsibility (CSR) and wider public participation to support patients in need.
Following these directions, the Maharashtra Public Relief Society was established as a platform to bring together companies, hospitals, voluntary organisations, social institutions and individual donors. These organisations can work together to implement different medical assistance programmes and ensure that financial support reaches deserving beneficiaries.
Support for Drought Victims and Natural Disaster-Affected Families
Apart from healthcare assistance, the society will also work towards helping individuals and families affected by drought, natural disasters and other emergency situations. It will facilitate the distribution of essential goods to economically weaker citizens and extend support to organisations working for persons with disabilities. Community health camps, public health awareness programmes, seminars and workshops related to healthcare will also be supported through this initiative. The society will provide a platform for social organisations and institutions to come together and undertake relief activities according to the needs of affected communities.
CM Relief Fund to Receive Additional Financial Strength
The broader objective of the Maharashtra Public Relief Society is to increase the resources available for public welfare through social participation. By encouraging companies, institutions and individual donors to contribute, the government aims to expand the reach of financial assistance to more needy patients and disaster-affected families.
Rameshwar Naik, Head of the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Charitable Hospital Assistance Cell, has appealed to companies, institutions and generous individuals to come forward and contribute to the initiative. With this new platform, Maharashtra aims to create a stronger support system for people facing medical emergencies and natural disasters, ensuring that financial assistance can reach more deserving citizens when they need it most.
Maharashtra Public Relief Society
The new initiative is also expected to encourage greater participation from the corporate sector under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes. By bringing together private companies, charitable organisations, hospitals and individual donors, the society aims to create a wider network of support for people who cannot afford expensive medical treatment. This collaborative approach will help identify genuine beneficiaries and support different welfare activities based on their needs.
Maharashtra Public Relief Society: Another important aspect of the initiative is its focus on long-term public welfare rather than providing assistance only during emergencies. Funds raised through social contributions can be used for healthcare programmes, medical camps, disability support and relief activities during natural disasters. This will help expand the scope of assistance and make more resources available for vulnerable communities across Maharashtra.
