The ESG India – Voice of Sustainable India – reports on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), sustainability, climate and the government policies that shape them in India. This page explains how we decide what to cover, how we report it and how we fix our mistakes.

What we cover

Our focus is on developments that affect how Indian companies, regulators and communities approach sustainability and responsible business: ESG regulation and disclosure, CSR spending and impact, climate and environmental policy, green finance, governance, and government schemes with social or environmental impact. We aim to explain not just what happened, but why it matters and what the numbers do and do not show.

Sourcing and verification

  • We rely on primary sources wherever possible: government notifications, regulatory circulars, court orders, company filings, annual and ESG/BRSR reports, and official statements.
  • Facts and figures are checked against the original source before publication, and we link to that source where it is publicly available.
  • Anonymous sources are used only when the information is in the public interest and cannot be obtained on the record, and only after an editor has verified it.

Press releases and corporate announcements

Companies, NGOs and government departments regularly send us announcements. We do not publish press releases as they are received. When we report on an announcement, we verify the key claims, add context (such as past performance, mandated CSR obligations or comparable initiatives) and make clear which statements are the organisation’s own claims.

Independence and sponsored content

Editorial decisions are made independently of advertisers, sponsors and commercial partners. Paid or partner content, if published, is clearly labelled as “Sponsored” or “Partner Content” and is kept separate from our news reporting. Advertisers have no say in our coverage.

Use of AI tools

Our journalists may use software tools, including AI-based tools, to help with research, transcription, translation or drafting. Every story is reviewed, fact-checked and edited by a member of our editorial team before publication. We do not publish automatically generated stories.

Language editions

Some stories are published in both English and Hindi. Hindi versions are produced and edited for Hindi-speaking readers and are linked to their English counterparts.

Corrections

We aim to get things right, and to correct mistakes promptly and transparently. If you believe something we have published is inaccurate, please email editor@theesgindia.com with the article link and details of the error. Significant corrections are noted at the end of the article with the date of the correction. Minor fixes such as spelling or formatting may be made without a note.

Right of reply

Individuals and organisations who are the subject of critical reporting will be given a reasonable opportunity to respond before publication. Responses received after publication may be added to the story.
