CIDCO Announces 15% Water Cut Across Navi Mumbai
CIDCO has announced a revised water supply schedule across all nodes under its jurisdiction. Under the new arrangement, water supply will remain suspended for 24 hours once a week in different nodes, while certain areas of Ulwe and Dronagiri will receive water on alternate days. The restrictions will remain in force until further notice. The decision follows concerns over inadequate rainfall during the previous year due to the impact of El Niño, which affected water availability in the region. Despite the monsoon season, the possibility of water scarcity remains a concern for the administration.
The Maharashtra Government issued a Government Resolution (GR) on October 5, 2026, directing authorities to manage available water resources in a planned and priority-based manner until August 31, 2027. The government has also emphasised drinking water security, prevention of water wastage and measures to minimise water leakage.
Considering the available water reserves and the gap between demand and supply, CIDCO has decided to implement a 15% water cut across its jurisdiction. The measure is aimed at ensuring the economical utilisation of available resources and reducing the possibility of water shortages in the coming months.
CIDCO Water Shutdown Schedule for Kharghar, Panvel and Other Areas
Under the weekly shutdown schedule, Kharghar and New Panvel (East) will face a 24-hour water supply suspension every Monday. On Tuesday, the shutdown will be implemented in Ulwe (Sectors 2, 3, 5, 6, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25 and 25A, including Gavhan, Kopar and Morave) and New Panvel (West). Kalamboli will face the shutdown on Wednesday, while Karanjade will have no water supply on Thursday. On Friday, the shutdown will apply to Taloja, Kalundre and Kamothe.
Ulwe and Dronagiri to Receive Water on Alternate Days
In certain parts of Ulwe and Dronagiri, water supply will be available on alternate days. In Ulwe, this arrangement will cover Sectors 8, 9, 10B, 15C, 16, 17 and 18, including Shelghar, Bamandongari, Nhava, Shivajinagar and Nhava Khadi. Similarly, alternate-day water supply will be implemented in Dronagiri across Sectors 1, 2, 11, 12, 15, 30, 47, 48, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54 and 55, including Dhutum, Bhendkhal, Pagota, Funde, Navghar, Navghar Pada, Bokadvira and Kunde.
CIDCO Water Cut: CIDCO Appeals to Residents to Save Drinking Water
CIDCO has appealed to residents to take note of the revised schedule and make necessary arrangements in advance. Citizens have been advised to use drinking water only for essential purposes and avoid unnecessary consumption. Housing societies have also been asked to ensure that overhead and other storage tanks do not overflow. The administration has specifically warned residents against using drinking water for washing vehicles and filling swimming pools. Such violations may attract penal action. Citizens have also been asked to repair leaking taps and pipelines immediately, avoid keeping taps running unnecessarily and not discard stored water simply because it has become stale.
Water Conservation Essential Amid Scarcity Concerns
CIDCO has emphasised that water conservation is a collective responsibility. Cooperation from residents, housing societies and other establishments will be essential to manage available water resources and maintain drinking water security across Navi Mumbai. The administration has urged citizens to use water carefully and economically until further notice, as responsible consumption will play an important role in reducing the possibility of water scarcity in the coming months.
