Sneh Asha Foundation: Tribal students in Maharashtra’s Palghar district will get an opportunity to learn practical life skills, financial literacy, functional English and the basics of Artificial Intelligence (AI) through a new educational initiative launched by Sneh Asha Foundation. The Mumbai-based non-profit organisation has introduced its 12-week ‘Jeevan Kaushalya’ programme across four tribal residential schools in Vikramgad and Jawhar talukas. The initiative aims to help students build confidence, make informed decisions, understand digital technology and explore future education and career opportunities beyond traditional classroom learning.

Programme Launched in the Presence of 400 Students

The programme was inaugurated at S.K. Agro Tourism in Vikramgad, with approximately 400 students attending the event. Renowned tribal folk artist and Padma Shri awardee Bhiklya Ladkya Dhinda Baba attended as the chief guest, alongside Siddhi Chauhan Jaiswal, Founder and President of Sneh Asha Foundation. The launch also celebrated Palghar’s rich tribal heritage. Bhiklya Ladkya Dhinda Baba presented a traditional Tarpa performance, while students from schools across the district showcased folk dances and indigenous art forms. The performances highlighted the importance of preserving cultural traditions and local identity while expanding access to modern education and opportunities.

Five Key Areas of Learning for Students

The Jeevan Kaushalya programme focuses on five areas: financial literacy, functional English, life skills, soft skills and career readiness. Students from Classes V to X will learn how to save and manage money, communicate effectively, work in teams, develop leadership skills, solve problems and make informed decisions. The programme will use interactive discussions, games, group activities and practical exercises to make learning engaging and encourage active participation.

Students will also receive guidance on higher education, vocational training, skill-based courses and career options. Recognising the growing role of technology, the programme will introduce them to digital skills and the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence. The initiative will be implemented at Karhe and Kurje residential schools in Vikramgad taluka, and Dabhosa and Vinwal residential schools in Jawhar taluka. Teachers, parents, school authorities and local communities will also be involved in the programme.

Sneh Asha Foundation: Bicycles Distributed to 50 Schoolgirls

As part of the launch, the Foundation distributed bicycles to 50 schoolgirls who face transportation challenges while travelling to school. The initiative aims to make their daily commute easier, encourage regular school attendance and help them continue their education with greater independence. Speaking about the programme, Siddhi Chauhan Jaiswal, Founder and President of Sneh Asha Foundation, said that a child’s potential should never be limited by their circumstances.

She emphasised that children growing up in tribal villages should have the same opportunities to understand technology, develop financial skills, communicate confidently and explore career possibilities as students in metropolitan cities. According to Jaiswal, education should go beyond examinations and equip children with the ability to make decisions, overcome challenges and build independent and fulfilling lives.

Foundation Has Reached More Than 16,500 Students

Sneh Asha Foundation said its educational initiatives have benefited more than 16,500 students to date. The organisation has helped establish computer laboratories in 54 schools across Mumbai, providing students with access to digital learning and technology. The Foundation has also awarded scholarships to 72 students across four batches to support their continued education. The launch of Jeevan Kaushalya in Palghar expands the organisation’s work into financial literacy, communication, digital awareness and career guidance. By combining practical learning with academic education, the Foundation aims to help students from underserved communities develop the skills and confidence needed to pursue future opportunities.
